After recent win, men’s basketball face CR Washington next

The men’s basketball team defeated Iowa City High last Friday to improve to 5-2 on the year after making a school record 16 threes in one game. 

Junior Dallas Bear made six in the first half and finished the night with 22 points and eight rebounds. Trey Campbell added 21 and five assists for the Tigers in their 90-49 dismantling of the Little Hawks. 

Cedar Falls will take on the Cedar Rapids Washington Warriors on Tuesday in Cedar Rapids. Campbell continues to be the Tigers leading scorer, averaging 25.6 points per game while shooting 42.9 percent from three point range and 83.7 percent from the free throw line. He also leads the Tigers with 3.6 assists per game and 2.9 steals per game. 

Bear is averaging 14.1 points per game while grabbing 7.1 rebounds per game. 

The Warriors are led in scoring by junior Traijan Sain’s 17.8. Sain also leads the team in rebounds with 5.1 per game and steals with 2.4 a game. 

Junior Jaden Harris has been averaging 9.5 points a game for the Warriors while junior Jesse Sellers has been averaging 8.9. 

Cedar Falls is averaging 69 points a game compared to Washington’s 54.9 and are allowing less points per game with 55, 1.8 better than Washington’s 56.8. 

The Tigers have also dominated the rebounds, grabbing 6.6 more rebounds per game then Washington. Cedar Falls has defeated Washington in each of their previous 13 meetings including last year’s 57-28 win in the substate final. 

These two face off once again on Tuesday night at Cedar Rapids Washington High School with the opening tip set for 7:30 p.m.
