Men’s bowling readies for season

As men’s bowling commenced last week, players and coach Brad Baker have high hopes for this bowling season.

“I think we are definitely going to be improved from last year. We finished 4th in the state last year. I think every one of our kids are looking to improve on where they were. I think they’re definitely looking to finish in the top two or three at State again this year,” Baker said.

Returning all six players, Baker is confident his players have what it takes to make it deep into the postseason play, and the players also have faith. “I firmly believe that the team will make it to State again this year. The way state works is that if the team makes it then you make it as an individual as well, so yeah I will also make it,” senior Jackson Reynolds said.

In addition to Reynolds, senior Brandon Jerome also plans to move forward to State like Jackson with the goal of perfection.

“I hope to bowl a perfect game during one of our meets this season, preferably at State,” Jerome said.

With one of the best conferences in the state, the Tigers will see tough tests along the road to State. “Last year three of the seven state qualifiers were from our conference, so there’s definitely going to be some challenges. Cedar Rapids Jefferson is always tough, usually Waterloo East and West are pretty good, so there’s gonna be challenges throughout the year, but I think we are definitely up to all of those,” Baker said.
