Headphones slip on between classes as students turn to music to get through the school day, choosing songs that match their mood rather than following one specific trend.
Sophomore Rebecca Jones said music helps her stay focused and relaxed. “I listen to music pretty much anytime I can,” Jones said. “It just helps me get through the day, especially when I’m stressed.”
Junior John Hudson said his taste in music changes depending on what he is doing. “If I’m working out, I want something really upbeat, but if I’m just chilling, it’s completely different,” Hudson said. “It really depends on my mood.”
Senior Daniel Green said music has become a big part of his daily routine. “I always have something playing, whether I’m driving or doing homework,” Green said. “It just feels weird without it.”
Junior Addyson Mayor said discovering new songs is one of her favorite parts of listening to music. “I like finding random songs that I’ve never heard before,” Mayor said. “Sometimes those end up being my favorites.”
While students may listen to different genres, they share a common habit of using music as a way to focus, relax, or pass time. Throughout the day, the quiet presence of earbuds shows how important music has become in their everyday routines.
