Juniors reflect on 2024 highlights

Looking back at the year 2024, it was a year filled with significant milestones that left a lasting impact on people and events around the world. From travling to unforgettable moments in sports and culture, 2024 will be remembered for its historic accomplishments and transformative experiences. These events have shaped our global narrative and will continue to be cherished for years to come.

When asking juniors what their most memorable part of 2024 was, many had lots to share. Casper Morgan said, “I got to travel in the summer and go to China with my mom. It feels like there’s so much to see in China that it’s hard to take it all in. Everything from the new foods to the tourist attractions, and even the travel to get there, made my trip to China the most memorable part of 2024 for me.”

Henry Funk said, “Going to Disney World for the band trip was the most memorable experience in 2024 because a lot of my friends are in band, and I got to hang out with them and stay with them in Florida for spring break. I also got to play my trumpet at Disney.”

Megan Engdahl said, “A moment I can’t stop thinking about in 2024, and unexpectedly the highlight of the year, was attending a concert with my best friends and my mom in September. It was one of our top artists we all listened to, and it was one of my friend’s first concerts. I’m so grateful that I got to experience the concert feeling with all my friends, dress up, scream and joyfully cry to every song played.”

While these unforgettable trips were special, there were also many significant events that happened in the world in 2024. Morgan said that the most unforgettable event in 2024 was the Summer Olympics held in France. “I like to watch all the different sports compete. My favorite was watching gymnastics at the championships.”

Funk said, “2024 was an election year, which was very important since I turned 18 just in time for October to vote for the first time in this election. I feel it’s very important, especially for people in the LGBTQ+ community, to voice their rights in the USA.”

Engdahl said, “The Eras Tour ending after almost two years was a sad ending to 2024 but still really important to me. I got to go in June 2023, and I feel that the Eras Tour was impactful and brought people together to spread joy and a smile to their faces.”
