Fortnite fans embracing inclusion of celebrities in new season

A new Fortnite season began Nov. 2, but this time, it’s different. Players are revisiting older seasons for a one-month journey, experiencing the past with a fresh twist.

The “Chapter 2 Remix” season takes players back to 2020, allowing them to relive iconic moments from previous seasons. However, this time, artists like Snoop Dogg, Ice Spice and Eminem are stepping into the game, replacing classic characters.

Freshman Wesley Dean shared his thoughts on the new season. “I kind of enjoy it, but I may be biased because I’m newer to the game,” he said.

The season kicked off with Snoop Dogg replacing Midas, one of the fan-favorite characters, and taking control of the Agency, a major in-game location.

Eminem later joined the game, introducing the “Spaghetti Grotto” and a minigun that raps.

Ice Spice will join the season later, taking over the Shark location and replacing older items, including the Mythic Scar and Grappler.

Along with these changes, many classic weapons are returning. Freshman Hunter Kotur, a veteran player, expressed excitement about one of the returning items. “Despite it being loud, I enjoy the Pump Shotgun, and I’m really happy it’s back,” he said.

Dean added that while he enjoys the returning weapons, some of them can be overpowered. “Some of them are way too overpowered and can be annoying to play against,” he said.

Most players seem to enjoy revisiting older seasons. Kotur, who has been playing for years, said, “Oh, I love that. That’s my favorite thing ever. It’s just a remake, and it lets everybody that’s new to the game have more fun, like how much fun we had when we were little.”

The season will end Nov. 30.
