Advanced courses give more homework

The Atlantic reported in a study that 70 percent of students in grades three through 12 most frequently have homework for their math classes. Homework is a huge part of students’ lives, and quite often, one class may become the most time consuming for students based on the workload. The students below reported the class that keeps them busy the most.

Holmes eighth grader Rin Jusufovic said math gives the most homework, especially because he is in an honors class. Jusufovic said, “I think that’s because it’s my only honors class, so, naturally, it’s going to give more homework than other eighth grade classes.”

On the other hand, there are many different classes for students that may be time consuming depending on what is being done in the class. Peet Freshman Melissa Meza said, “I think U.S. history and science may give the most homework for me, but it really depends on the unit. I’m also the busiest with English when we’re writing essays, for example.”

Senior Tanvi Khadiya said, “I would say my most time-consuming class is AP US government. There is a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time, meaning there’s a lot of activities we need to do both in class and outside of class. Government is a complex subject and requires a lot of work to fully understand.”
