Freshman Brynn Bakula recently just hit a career milestone of 500 assists after the team’s home game against Osage where the Tigers won 21-7, and 21-12.
For you, what was a highlight of your most recent competition?
A few weeks ago, Osage beat us at their home tournament, so a highlight for me was showing up and beating them at our Cedar Falls tournament on the 24th.
What makes your sport special and different?
It is a team sport which makes it great for meeting new people and making friends. It’s also a game full of action meaning each point is completely different from the next.
How long have you been into this sport, and what were the early days of your participation?
I began playing volleyball in second grade by going to different camps but started playing on a club team in fourth grade.
How did/do you cope with any setbacks/losses you’ve experienced in your sport?
Volleyball is a very fast paced game, so I always try to focus on making the next point, practice, or game better than the last. It’s good to learn from mistakes, but I never try to dwell in them.
Do you have plans to play this sport after high school?
I’m not sure where at yet, but, yes, I would love to play college volleyball.
What has been a highlight for you/your team so far this season?
A highlight for me was definitely getting my 500th assist. Earlier this year, I had no clue I would be starting varsity, but now it’s great seeing how far my team and I have already come.
