Student Senate helps Santa with children’s letters

The Student Senate writes letters back to children who wrote letters to Santa in order to help kids get into the Christmas spirit. They get the letters from the mailbox on downtown Main Street where kids will put their letters to Santa.

Student Senate member Keiana James said how not all of the letters written are local. “Most of the letters are local, but some are sent out of state of relatives’ kids who wrote letters when they were here for Thanksgiving or the holidays.” James said.

Student Senate adviser Erin Gardner said, “I would say we had over 100 letters that we have responded to. We will continue to write them over our last day on Wednesday. Staff and other groups such as the volunteer club, Mrs. Paulsen’s 4-H group and Mrs. Droste’s child development class have also helped us,” Gardner said.

Gardner said helping Santa with the letters is one of the Student Senate’s favorite annual events, and it has been going on for about four or five years.
