Let’s flush Devious Licks

The lack of humanity in our generation has truly been revealed these past few weeks. Students across the nation are stealing doors, sinks, toilet paper, even the toilet itself. Schools across America are having bathrooms become bare, due to the ‘Devious Licks’ trend on Tik Tok.

What is this ‘Devious Licks’ trend? The ‘Devious Licks’ trend is a 60-second video, filmed for publicity, that shows young adults vandalizing and stealing items from public areas, most commonly school restrooms. The barbaric activity in these public spaces needs to stop.

Though participants mistakenly think it can be funny on the internet, police enforcement is becoming involved. Criminal charges are being placed on young teenagers from other school districts. People Magazine reported recently that “at least 13 students are facing criminal charges” due to this trend.

Not to mention it has made an already unsavory space, even more inaccessible. Several teachers are having to place restrictions on how many students can go at one time, when they can go and even making sign-out sheets so suspects of the vandalism can be thoroughly tracked. The viral trend has turned the school environment into total chaos.

With necessities in the school bathrooms and other foundational structures being taken from our school and others, this must stop.

We believe that this trend is leading our school down a bad path. If this continues, more action will be taken by our administrators. These actions would restrict everyone’s rights within the school, making our day to day life even more stressful. The school could take action by limiting the number of bathrooms we are allowed to use. It is already hard enough to try making it to the bathroom before class with all the bathrooms we have now.
