With Mother’s Day approaching, students are beginning to plan how they will celebrate and show appreciation for the important women in their lives. While some are sticking to traditional gifts, others are focusing on more personal ways to make the day meaningful.
Many students say they plan to spend quality time with their moms rather than buying expensive presents. “I’m probably just going to make her breakfast and hang out with her,” sophomore Jenna Lee said. “She always says she doesn’t need anything, so I think that matters more.”
Others are choosing to combine both gifts and experiences. Some students mentioned buying flowers, writing cards, or planning small surprises. “I like doing something simple but thoughtful,” junior Marcus Hill said. “Even just a handwritten note can mean a lot.”
For students with busy schedules, finding time can be the biggest challenge. Between school, work and activities some say they have to plan ahead. “I have practice that weekend, so I’m celebrating early,” senior Alyssa Grant said. “It’s not about the exact day, it’s just about showing you care.”
As the day gets closer, students continue to find their own ways to celebrate, proving that appreciation can be shown in many different forms.
