Excitement spreads among students following the return of astronauts from Artemis II, a mission that sent a crew around the Moon and marked a major moment in modern space exploration.
Junior Justin Baker said the successful return made the mission feel even more significant. “It’s way cooler now that they actually made it back safely,” Baker said. “It shows we can really keep doing this.”
Sophomore Riley O’Connel said watching the mission from launch to return made it more engaging. “I feel like I paid more attention because it wasn’t just a plan, they actually set it in motion,” O’Connel said. “They actually went and came back just fine, which is crazy.”
Sophomore Kaitylin Justice said the missions’ success makes future space travel seem more possible. “It makes it feel like going to space isn’t as far away as it ued to seem,” Justice said. “Like this could actually lead to something bigger.”
Senior Maya James said the return helped make the mission feel complete. “I think it’s more exciting knowing they finished it,” James said. “It wasn’t just about going, it was about coming back too.”
While reactions vary, students say the mission’s successful return has made space exploration feel more real and relevant, highlighting what could come next as efforts to explore beyond Earth continue.
