The Nook will expand and add The Reader’s Cup on Nov. 9, allowing customers to get some fresh beverages along with their books.
It’s been about a year since The Nook, an indie bookstore located in downtown Cedar Falls, opened. It was immediately a major hit, with a long line of customers trailing around the block and clearing out half the store’s inventory on its first day of opening.
“It’s been amazing. We’ve been able to host a lot of events for the community, and we’ve been able to expand our inventory in the last year to reach more people,” Brandon Conrad, an owner of the Nook, said.
With The Nook’s popularity continuing to soar, the indie bookstore has decided to expand, adding The Reader’s cup, with The Nook team on Instagram stating that, “The expansion provides more room for books (of course), but we’ll also be adding a sit and sip bookish experience.”
This “sit & sip” experience will allow for more seating and for customers to purchase some coffee or tea, along with some pastries to take along with their books.
“My mother-in-law has been making the whole menu,” Conrad said. “There will be the regular coffee drinks; we’re going to have tea from the Tea Cellar and coffee from Fat Cup. It will basically be a normal coffee menu; however, all of the tea drinks will have fun bookish names.”
For now, The Reader’s Cup is planning to open on Nov. 9 this year, three days away from The Nook’s one-year anniversary on the 11th.
The Nook is planning a fun event on the same day The Reader’s Cup opens, tying the two together and establishing their growth in the Cedar Falls community.
“We’ve learned so much in the past year,” Conrad said. “I think being in business, being at the farmers market and the mini pop up at The Cob, I feel like we keep evolving.”
The Nook plans to add future details and developments about The Reader’s Cup on their Instagram. Follow them @readerscup.cf.
