Students making resolutions for New Year

With the turn of the year, many high school students are setting goals for themselves. Many students base their resolutions on self care, wanting to focus more on taking care of themselves.

Junior Hazel Keith said, “My New Year’s resolution is to take better care of myself by doing self-care procedures like washing my face before I go to sleep every night, eating my meals at appropriate times and not being on the internet as much.” Keith’s goal will help them focus more on their well-being. Especially at the end of the semester, students find themselves focused on school to the point of neglecting their self-care.

With a similar goal of healthier habits, junior John Nyman said, “My New Year’s resolution was to go to sleep at midnight each night, rather than staying up late to work on homework and not getting optimal sleep each night.”

Sleep is very important for high school students, and time management can be very difficult when balancing school, extracurriculars and work. Nyman said he hopes his goal will help him to have more energy. With both the beginning of a new year and a new semester, students are hoping to find a better balance between their responsibilities to others and the responsibilities to themselves.
