Students exploring many options at CF farmers’ market

Cedar Falls farmers’ market has been gaining popularity amongst students over the past couple of weeks. People from the Cedar Valley have their own stands to sell their own handmade creations to the public, as well as food trucks and live music being there as well.

The Cedar Falls Farmers Market provides the community with locally grown and produced products. This includes a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, baked goods, eggs, meat, mushrooms, honey, coffee, jams and jellies, nuts, fresh-cut flower bouquets, potted plants and starts for your own gardens, houseplants, metal and wood worked items, natural health & beauty products, jewelry, pottery—plus a variety of food trucks & vendors with hot and ready-to-eat prepared foods—and more.

Sophomore Ruby Mabon attends the farmers market almost every weekend it is open. Mabon said, “I think that the best time to go to the farmers market is at the beginning, as early as you can,” Mabon said.

Last Saturday, shops consisted of homemade jewelry, candles, soaps, flowers and homemade pastries as well as many cute trinkets for around the house.

“I love going because of all the cute little shops they have because most of them are hand

made,” Mabon said.

The farmers market is open on Saturday mornings from 8:30- noon and will continue through October. It is located in Overmann Park in Cedar Falls.
