Moon Knight is the latest original series that Disney has put out on their streaming service. The six-episode event has a lot to live up to considering that the other Marvel series have been extremely successful. The hype around Moon Knight has been very intense ever since the first teaser for the series dropped on January 17, 2022.
The series follows the main character, Steven Grant, as he discovers he has an Egyptian god living in the same body as him. To give a little backstory on the character, Moon Knight is a character that first appeared in 1975 in “Werewolf By Night” as a villain.
As for the actual show, we meet Steven Grant who’s just a gift shop worker at a museum in London, and he continues to wake up in random places days after he falls asleep. Steven then discovers that he is sharing a body with someone else, a mercenary named Marc Spector who has strange abilities and can seemingly get Steven out of any situation he finds himself in the midst of. The antagonist of the series is Arthur Harrow, a very mysterious character who leads a cult that kills people if their god tells them that they’re not a good person.
This series is definitely set apart from the other shows on Disney+ so far; it’s very mysterious and has a spooky vibe to it. It’s very different from shows like Falcon & the Winter Soldier and Loki. Personally, I’m really loving it. It’s refreshing to have a show that has all new characters while still being a part of the MCU. The acting is very good, however, Oscar Issac’s character seems to be very nonchalant about a lot of the things that happen in the show. He doesn’t seem to have as much emotion as you’d expect someone to have.
Lots of people might find the first few episodes confusing, but as you continue to watch, it makes more sense. So far, with only three episodes out on Disney+, people are already raving about the show and can’t wait to see what’s to come in the next three episodes.
