Big releases ahead for pop music fans

Only two months left of 2021! Crazy isn’t it? Well, before the end of the year we have a lot of artists releasing new music. There’s a lot to be excited for in terms of new content.

The first artist on our list that is releasing new music this year is James Arthur. James Arthur is most known for his 2016 release, Say You Won’t Let Go, which currently has 1.8 billion plays on Spotify. On March 5, Athur released the single “Medicine,” and it’s the first single from his new album, It’ll All Make Sense In The End, which is set to release on Nov. 5. The album is going to have 14 songs. You can find the specifics for the tracklist on Apple Music. Arthur also released “September,” “Avalanche” and “SOS” all of which will be featured on the album.

The second artist on this list is Adele who is most famous for her songs “Rolling In The Deep,”Helloand “Someone Like You.” After five years, she released the single “Easy On Me.” It’s a tease for her new album, which is going to release on Nov. 19. A full tracklist has not been revealed yet, but it’s unlikely that one will not be released before the album.

The third artist on this list is Silk Sonic. The duo is made up of Anderson.Paak and Bruno Mars who released their first single together on March 5, Leave The Door Open and released their second single, “Skate,” on July 30. Bruno Mars’ most notable releases are “Uptown Funk,” “When I Was Your Man” and “Just The Way You Are.” Their first album is set to be released on Nov. 12. Not many details have been released about the album, but we can expect “Skate” and “Leave The Door Open” to be featured on the album.

Griffin Searfoss, a freshman at Holmes, is also anticipating upcoming releases. He said, “In 2021 the new song by Skillet ‘Surviving the Game.’ In the next few months and the next year, I’m looking forward to the whole album by Skillet called Dominion. Most of my favorite bands no longer make music (they’re dead), so that’s about it.”

Next on our list is Ed Sheeran. Sheeran is most famous for … basically every song he’s ever released. He has seven songs with over a billion plays. “Photograph,” “Castle On The Hill,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “Perfect,” “Beautiful People,” “I Don’t Careand the most listened to song on Spotify, “Shape Of You” with nearly 3 billion plays. Sheeran’s long awaited fourth album in his main string of albums released on Oct. 29.

If you’ve followed Sheeran’s music for a while now, you won’t be surprised to find out that it is titled =. It’s supposed to be a coming of age album about his marriage, new daughter and overall his new chapter in his life. It’s set to have 14 tracks, three of which have been released already (“Bad Habits,” “Visiting Hours” and “Shivers”). Considering the singles we’ve gotten so far, this is a new era for Sheeran’s music. He’s testing out more and more synth and effects on his voice and instruments. “Bad Habits” really showed us that he’s going for a new feel with his songs.

There’s a lot of new music to look forward to this year. Come back next week for a review of Sheeran’s full = (Equals) album!
