Fun for Fans: FCA offers safe place after Tiger games

Fellowship of Christian Athletes invites all students to Fifth Quarter events hosted at Nazarety Lutheran Church on University Avenue after home games. The events offer free food and games for those looking to get together.

As the Tigers storm through the season, FCA is offering an alternative place to grab some food and hang out with friends after football games. The Fifth Quarter is at Nazareth Lutheran Church on University Avenue in Cedar Falls after every Tigers home football game.

Fifth Quarter features free food and an open gym for students. “We really wanted something for the kids to do after the football games; maybe an alternative activity that could bring kids together and have a good time and get to know each other,” FCA leader Ken Trautmann said.

Trautmann also leads the FCA meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at the high school during power hour. Even though FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Ken said, “Anyone can participate, and we would love to have athletes and non-athletes alike.”

Junior Allison Flanscha attends the Fifth quarter after every home game and said she loves the atmosphere. “Everyone is super nice and all types of people are welcomed whether you’re a Christian or not. It is a great place to go to and spend time with friends while making new ones.”

Fifth quarter will continue throughout the rest of the Tiger’s seasons and is inviting everyone to come share the fun.
