Athlete of the Week: Peyton Wageman

PEYTON WAGEMAN

Women’s Tennis

How long have you been playing tennis?

Competitively, I have been playing since freshman year. However, when I was young I took lessons at the Black Hawk Tennis Club in Waterloo.

What has been your biggest accomplishment this season so far?

Although we have just begun season, I think my biggest accomplishment comes from the fact that myself along with many other girls on the team have been committed to playing multiple times a week year round.

What are some of your personal goals?

My main goal is to win and be competitive at number two singles and hopefully compete at State for doubles.

What are some team goals?

Obviously, the team’s overarching goal is to go to State (for the first time) as a team, but beating the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids schools is definitely a goal of ours too.

Best memory from this or previous seasons?

The best memories I have from seasons are with my team during practice. The environment is fun, my teammates are great and there are always lots of laughs on and off the court. (Krisha beating the No. 1 player from Iowa City was pretty awesome too, though.)

Are you planning on playing tennis after this year?

I am planning on playing club tennis at Iowa State University next year. I also will play for fun with family and friends.
