High school huddle begins with food, fun

By Lily Becker

Sunday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the CFHS FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) had its fall kickoff.

The kickoff included a game of kickball, food, a group “huddle” and a special guest, UNI’s tight end Elias Nissen who spoke to the group. After the huddle, some stayed to play disk golf, bags or socialize with others.

Not all students at the kickoff go to Cedar Fall. Other schools represented were Hudson, Waterloo West and Waverly.

The group mainly targets student athletes, but members don’t have to be athletes to come. The group is open to all.

FCA is really about Christian fellowship, which gives the members with the same views a place to share. Nissen said, “A group of people around you who are like-minded and Christ-followers is huge.”

The CFHS FCA will meet every Thursday during B shift power hour in room 214. Their next big group gathering will be Fields of Faith on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. on the CFHS football field.

FCA is also taking orders for shirts for about two weeks. Members can order them at the first meeting or talk to FCA adviser and math teacher Joshua Wilkinson.
