Holmes volunteer club accepting members

Holmes Junior High’s volunteer club has started up again this year and will continue its legacy, according to freshman and club president Finley Bartlett. The volunteer club has been a strong contributor to Holmes fundraisers, programs, and more. This year alone, club members have supported fundraisers for the Cedar Bend Humane Society, the House of Hope, and Hartman Reserve, all of which benefit the local community.

Bartlett said that a few other freshman students are involved with the volunteer club: Josie Shatek, Charlie Horan, and Tito Kodiaga.

In addition, Bartlett said that Holmes’ teachers also support the club.

“Mr. Duff, a ninth-grade science teacher, contributes to the volunteer club as well as Mr. Shaffer, the family and consumer science teacher.”

For additional information, each club meeting is typically every other Wednesday in Duff’s room.

Bartlett said her favorite volunteer club memory was “getting to decorate Hartman Reserve for Christmas” in 2024, and that she loves “helping the community.”

Bartlett encouraged others to get involved in the volunteer club because it’s “super fun,” and she thinks everybody can benefit from getting active in the community
