Volunteer club focuses on giving

As the giving season starts back up, the volunteer club focuses on helping students develop lifelong habits of learning and service by promoting the importance of supporting their communities. The club’s message emphasizes that community impact can come in many forms, from organized service projects to small gestures like holding a door or offering kind words.

The club plans to participate in activities such as volunteering at the Food Bank, House of Hope, and Love Inc. Members are also organizing their own projects, including making tie blankets, hosting food and toy drives, and organizing events such as assisting citizens in need.

“My favorite part of helping run the volunteer club is seeing the kids being so selfless,” adviser Chris Wood said. “It’s all student-led. I barely have to do anything. High school kids just have a bad rep. I think teenagers have some of the biggest hearts as long as they can find a passion.”

The volunteer club meets Fridays during Tiger Time and is open to all students and meets on Fridays. According to organizers, the club aims to help students understand the value of giving back and being positive members of their community.
