Science club preparing for upcoming Olympiad

Every Thursday after school, the science club fills with students designing, building, testing and experimenting as they prepare for the Science Olympiad. The club focuses on teamwork and problem-solving, with members working in groups of two to three to compete in 23 main events.

“I like seeing the kids working so well together in teams,” coach Erin Sliwinski said. “Captains taking lead when doing so many really cool things. It’s all them. They do such a great job I can’t wait to see where they go in life and how science can help them.”

For some students, the club is also a way to explore their academic and career interests.

“Science club is a way for me to figure out what I like learning about and what I enjoy doing. Learning anatomy and physiology is fun for me, so the medical field is the path I’m going on,” team member Kaitlyn Neilson said. “I really enjoy going to science club. It can be a lot of work at times, but hanging out and learning things I’m interested in with my friends makes up for it.”
